Immanuel Baptist Church began in 1886 as a German Baptist church formed by farmers and merchants who had immigrated to Texas, and it continues on Farm to Market Road 150 east of Kyle. The congregation states that it is a member of Texas Baptists and of the North American Baptist Conference. Its published beliefs affirm the preeminence of Christ, the Scriptures as the supreme rule of faith and practice, and a worldwide program of missionary evangelism.
