Where the new churches land
Every generation plants churches, and each generation plants them somewhere different. This heat map weights each congregation toward the most recent plantings in a trailing twenty-five-year span, so hot spots show at whatever grain they actually cluster, down to a neighborhood, not just a division: the Austin division alone received 28 percent of the current span's 294 recorded plantings, and the rest landed across the other fourteen divisions. Each congregation is weighted toward the most recent plantings in a trailing 25-year window, so the map shows where planting concentrates today rather than a division-by-division share: founding year is recorded for 811 of 1,151 congregations, and only those count. The early decades are a floor twice over: a window holding fewer than 20 recorded plantings does not draw as a concentration, and the further back you read, the more of that era's planting has since closed and left no mark, so an early window describes the survivors' geography rather than the era's.
