Winn's Memorial Baptist Church
Church · Baptist
Winn's Memorial Baptist Church is a historically Black Baptist congregation on Madison Street in Elgin, Texas, east of Austin, serving since 1933 and a member of the St. John Regular Baptist Association. It began with a meeting held under a tent on the present grounds; a building was moved to the site and remodeled in 1948, ground was broken for a new edifice in February 2004, and the congregation entered that building in May 2005. Its published creed reads: "God the Father is our Creator, Jesus Christ is our Lord, the Holy Spirit is our Comforter, the Bible is our Creed, the Cross is our Message, and Soul Winning is our Calling."
