The First Baptist Church of Taylor
Church · Baptist
The First Baptist Church of Taylor is a historically Black Baptist congregation on North Robinson Street in Taylor, Texas. It traces its beginning to an 1883 tent revival on the site and was organized in 1886 as Mt. Aria Baptist Church, taking its present name in 1940; a Texas Historical Commission marker at the front entrance records that history. In its own words it is a church where a member will 'be fed the word of God regularly, be given the opportunity to grow in ministry,' and it describes its work as 'telling this world about a risen Savior.' It gathers for Sunday worship and Bible study, holds an annual women's conference, and live-streams its services.
