Church · Baptist

St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church is a historically Black Baptist congregation on West Pecan Street in Pflugerville, Texas, organized in January 1910. A Texas Historical Commission marker at the site records that it began in 1909 as services under a brush arbor on a farm in the settlement recorded in county records as Pflugerville's colored addition, land set aside and sold in fifty-dollar lots after African American workers in the local cotton industry were not allowed to buy property in town; its first building was completed between 1914 and 1916. The marker notes the congregation has grown from twenty members to more than four hundred.
