Rosedale Baptist Church is a Baptist congregation at 44th Street and Maybelle Avenue in the Rosedale neighbourhood of Austin, Texas. It was formed on August 7, 1937, when thirty-seven people gathered at a home and organised the North Austin Baptist Church, meeting for a time in a tent on 39 1/2 Street with electricity supplied by an extension cord run from a neighbour's house. A store building at 40th Street and Alice Avenue served the congregation until a permanent site was bought in 1939; the first building was completed with volunteer labour in 1940 and the church took its present name. The original building was replaced in 1946, a new sanctuary was finished in 1965, and the present education building was dedicated in March 1986, carrying the round stained glass window from the old sanctuary. A third building, first used to house the Rosedale Baptist School, completes the complex. In its own words the congregation "is associated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Baptist General Convention of Texas, and Austin Baptist Association."
