One Way Baptist Church
Church · Baptist
One Way Baptist Church is a historically Black Baptist congregation on Hairy Man Road in Round Rock, north of Austin. By its own account it was established in February 1996, held its first worship service and communion that March in a living room, met afterwards in a converted carport on East Main Street and then in leased space on East Palm Valley Boulevard, and purchased its present 2.7-acre site and building in September 2001. It partnered with a Round Rock mother congregation in its first year and through that partnership joined the Williamson Baptist Association and the Baptist General Convention of Texas, becoming an autonomous church in 1999 and retiring its mortgage in 2016. It describes itself as a multi-racial, multi-generational congregation reaching upward through prayer, praise and worship, inward through relationships, accountability and spiritual growth, and outward through community service, evangelism and world missions. Its community work runs largely through an affiliated nonprofit that has awarded more than $244,000 in scholarships and hosts local Juneteenth and community festival events.
