Olivet Baptist Church

Church · Baptist

Olivet Baptist Church is a historically Black Baptist congregation on San Bernard Street in Austin's Six Square Cultural Heritage District, just east of downtown. Founded in 1928, it worships in a sanctuary completed in 1961 to a design by John S. Chase, the first Black architect licensed in Texas. It gathers for worship on Sunday mornings, in person and online, and organises its common life around what it calls connection, community, contribution and celebration. Its published ministries include a men's ministry, a women's ministry, a youth and young adult ministry, a couples ministry, a deacons ministry, a benevolence ministry, a scholarship fund, and a media production team that also maintains the congregation's historical archive.
