Church · Baptist

Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, which publishes its name as Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and is known as The Mount, is a historically Black congregation on Cameron Road in Austin, Texas, and a member of the St. John Regular Baptist Association. Five families gathering for prayer in a private home founded it in 1899 to serve East Austin. It built at Poquito and Twenty-Second Streets in 1901 as Main East Austin Baptist Church, dedicated a new building there in 1958 and took its present name the same year, then moved to East Thirty-Eighth and a Half Street in 1989, to Cameron Road in 1994, and to its current campus in 2018. Its published statement of faith covers biblical authority, the Trinity, sin, salvation, the new birth, sanctification, baptism and the Lord's Supper as the two ordinances, and the return of Christ.
