Mt Olive Baptist Church
Church · Baptist
Mt Olive Baptist Church is a historically Black Baptist congregation on East Eleventh Street in Austin, Texas, and a member of the St. John Regular Baptist Association. It was founded on March 3, 1889 during a camp meeting on the grounds of what is now Huston-Tillotson University, meeting first on East Fourth Street in Mason Town, an early African American settlement, and then on Leona Street, where it was known as New Mt. Olive, before moving to East Eleventh Street. Its present building was dedicated on September 14, 1986. It summarises its vision as upreach, inreach and outreach, and its published beliefs affirm one God revealed in three persons, salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and the universal reality of sin and of judgment.
