Church · Baptist
David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church is a historically Black Baptist congregation on East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Austin, Texas. It was organized on April 27, 1924 in the Ceiling Hills community south of Austin, moved into East Austin in 1926, and entered its present sanctuary in 1959, a building designed by architect John S. Chase and financed by the St. John Regular Baptist Association after white-owned banks declined to lend. Its published beliefs comprise a church covenant and articles of faith in the historic Baptist confessional form, and its ministries span children, youth, college and young adults, women, men, and senior adults, alongside neighborhood and community work.
